What can I say about Pixadex besides fantastic? This is a GREAT addition to the IF family of software and a godsend for those people who collect (and make) icons.
One great thing about Pixadex is that you can also import Classic icons from IconDropper Packs. I don't use classic icons anymore and shy away from them. But for those people who are truely into icon collecting this is a plus.
There are various ways to add icons to Pixadex. You can drag and drop them into the preview window, Import them (either individually or a whole folder of icons), or add iContainers (both Pixadex and CandyBar versions). You can even save your own sets as iContainers.
No more searching for the right icon. You have them all in this one great application. There is one feature that I found it lacking in though. Because of this it lost one apple in its rating:
  • When applying icons you can only apply them to documents and folders. I tried to apply an icon to a CD I was burning and was unable to do so. This feature would be a godsend to software developers so that they could apply custom icons easily to their media.
With that in mind, Pixadex is a nice and easy-to-use icon catalog application that no user should be without. Unless, that is, you don't collect icons... and who doesn't do that? Keep it up the good work IF! You people are some of the saviors of the Mac community.
UPDATE: With the newest release of Pixadex there are some really great new features. You can now apply icons to removable media!! Also you can rearrange your icons the way you want them to be viewed. A top-notch upgrade to one of the best apps out there.
UPDATE #2: With the advent of Pixadex v2 there are even more cool features. The coolest, I think, is the ability to assign a custom icon to your icon collection as a whole. Not to mention it runs more smoothly. Pixadex2 is a great piece of software and anyone who collects icons, and if you own a Mac you do, should own this.
