I had been a long time user of Mask Pro. One day I was watching an episode of MacBreak Weekly on my iPod and they showed this amazing application called EZ Mask. I couldn't believe what I was seeing as it looked like the ultimate dream app for anyone who uses masks in their photoshop projects. I knew I had to do a review. And once I got the information it amazed me on how much simpler it was to use than I had originally imagined!
Above you can see the entire process I went through to get my effect. In the top box you basically paint your map. Red is background, green is foreground, and blue is unknown (top graphic). You then click process and you get the result in the graphic above. Yes, it still needs some work. But very little. Something that usually took me 2-3 hours by hand or 1 hour with Mask Pro took me less than 5-10 minutes with EZ Mask! This little plug-in is a designers wet dream!! If you use masking alot I would suggest you purchase this as fast as you can. But before you do I just want to point out that I have found that it doesn't work with CS3. This is a sad note. If I am able to obtain the honor to review the newest version I will let you know if it works with CS3 and what new goodies are under the hood.
To sum up, I am giving this app a "Beyond Belief" rating. I would have given it top honors if it weren't for the CS3 incompatability.
