I've been a fan of Snapz Pro ever since it's humble beginnings in the Classic OS. It was always much more friendly and powerful than the built in snapshot features in even the MacOS. And Snapz Pro X is 10x as powerful than before.
The screensnap features are awesome. You can choose between what format you would like (which include jpg, gif, and psd), if you'd like for the cursor to be visible, how you'd like the file named, etc.
You can also choose what type of screensnap you want to take: Fullscreen, a selection of the screen, or an actual GUI object (windows, menubars, etc).
All in all I was very pleased with the newest version of Snapz Pro. That is until I tried the movie capture feature. After hearing the "ACTION!" sound my cursor spun for a good minute. Then after another 30 sec to a minute of moving stuff through the selected "movie area" Snapz Just seemed to stop. It didn't save a movie anywhere on my HD that I could see. So, although I wouldn't use that feature much, I'll have to knock off some points and award Snapz Pro a 4. I know a lot of people who would use this feature if it worked and worked well.
UPDATE: With the release of 1.0.7 this piece of software gets another apple for making it even easier to create movies from the desktop. Virtually no lag and 99% of what I did was shown in the movie that I made on my iMac 15" flatpanel. Kudos to Ambrosia for improving on their almost perfect product. According to what I read on the boards at Ambrosia version 1.1 will be so sweet it'll give you cavities.
UPDATE #2: With the release of v2 Snapz gets yet another apple and reaches our gold standard for making it so easy to create movies on your desktop for presentations it's not funny. They also simplified the way you can change options for each task which is great. I'd recommend this software to anyone who is serious about getting the best software there is for their Mac.
