CandyBar is a themer's dream. With the unfortunate "death" of Kaleidoscope there isn't many ways one can change the look and feel of the Mac OS after OS9. Hence, CandyBar. CandyBar allows the user to change most of the icons within the OSX system. Another cool feature in the newest version is the addition of iContainers.
iContainers (pictured to the left) are drag-and-drop "plug-ins" (for lack of a better word) that automatically change your systems icons to the ones stored within it. In essence CandyBar not only is a godsend to people wanting to change the look of their GUI, but also to iconeers as well.
If you are running Jaguar or Panther, then there are even more icons you can change, including the Finder icon. So, if you haven't tried CandyBar yet do yourself a favor and go to the link above and give it a try. You'll soon be as addicted to it as real chocolate.
UPDATE: One thing I had always thought was missing from CandyBar was the ability to have different icons assigned to more than one drive. With the advent of CandyBar two I got my wish and a hell of a lot more! With v2 and above you can not only change the icon for all your drive volumes, but also change application icons and all icons associated with a specific application. You can then save each of these as an iContainer to share with everyone. This is just FREAKIN' AWESOME! Beacause I can't see CandyBar getting any better than this I'm awarding it top honors with the golden apple award. Although come to think of it the Utilities icon still needs a way to be changed, but that's an Apple bug and not their fault... Good job guys!
