Here we provide links to the few Sim utilities that are out there for creating and maintaining your Sim experience. To visit each site just click the utilities name:
FarSight - This utility lets you look inside FAR files and extract things you need to create your own sims. Very useful and well done application. There are both Classic and OSX versions (althought the icon for OSX is lacking). FREEWARE.
iff Taxi - Let's you catagorize all your iff files. A nice utility that comes in handy. SHAREWARE.
skinShrinker - A really handy program. This helps to make your downloaded Sim files Mac compatable. With the limitations of most Mac programs (especially pre OSX) the names would get truncated. This helps to resolve that problem. FREEWARE.
FarMaker/UnZipper - These are two very handy utilities. One lets you turn your finished skins into FAR files so that they are easier to find. The other does much the same as skinShrinker (although not as well). One drawback about bouth is that neither of them have icons associated with them... FREEWARE.
SimShow - After creating a skin you'll want to see if it will draw correctly. This is offered by Aspyr as freeware. I'm going one step forward and offering a direct download of this utility here at MacNation. Just click the program icon and enjoy. FREEWARE.
IFFSnooper - IFFSnooper is an IFF file reader for the Macintosh and is a work in progress. IFFSnooper will open up an .iff file and display some of the resources. It can also open up wall files (.wll files), floor files (.flr files) and .FAM files - in reality these are all IFF files with different file extensions. IFFSnooper should run on any Mac with OS 8.1 or higher. It has been tested on OS versions 8.5 to 10.3 (Panther). The IFFSnooper version for OS X is Carbonized and needs Carbon version 1.2.5 or higher. To grab this file you must sign up with the ? YahooGroup, you may then download it from their files section. SImodifier - SImodifier is a fun utility that allows you to change the attributes and behaviour of your Sims. Want one of your Sims to act like a cat? This can do it, although I don't know why you would want to do that. Want to change career tracks with ease? This will do it. Many, Many features.
